We Make a Fire (1940s)
Well - not much we can say about this one other than little Tommy needs to have the s**t beaten out of him! Film is absolutely hilarious, if not for the fact that Tommy is every parent's nightmare (think Bart Simpson), then for the deliciously melodramatic musical scoring that accompanies it. Pay special notice to the brief musical "borrowing" from Wagner's Gotterdammerung (Brunnhilde's self immolation) as the fire erupts! It's little coded subtleties like this that make these "ephemeral" films all the more fun! Let's go pyro!
Note: The following clip is taken directly from original print and has been edited to aproximately
half the film's original length.
